BSB British GP2 | R3 Donington Park

Strong result at Donington Park for Krämer

This round was always going to be a challenge, with the addition of three World Championship riders taking the opportunity to practice amongst the busy Supersport grid, before the World Superbike round at Donignton Park in July.

The team worked hard throughout free practice and qualifying to get a good set up on both bikes, which they achieved. Jenner and Nixon were the only GP2 riders to qualify for both races over the weekend. This is a testament to not only the skill of the riders, but to the strength of the Krämer GP2-890RR, showing how competitive it is in amongst the Supersport bikes.

Race one saw both riders finish well, with Jenner in 14th and Nixon 16th overall, and taking 1st and 2nd in class. Jenner had a really strong race mixing it with some of the more established top Supersport riders. Nixon also had a strong start and was sitting alongside Jenner, until he suffered with arm pump in the latter stages, dropping him back a couple of places. Overall both riders came away with podium points, yet again increasing the championship lead.

Race two saw Jenner take a very credible 11th overall and first in class. This was yet another step forward for the team, especially taking into account that three of the front riders in Supersport were World Championship front runners. Nixon after discussion with the team went for the softer SCX tyre as the track conditions were ideal, unfortunately the tyre performance dropped off dramatically after only a few laps. We are positive that Nixons luck is going to change for the better soon. The team will continue to work with him to get him further up the grid within Supersport overall, but we are still in the early stages of the championship and Nixon is still bringing in valuable championship points.

Team owner Eddie Roberts comments; “It was great to see the teams principal sponsors Joe, Ed and family from Plastic Parts Direct on Saturday and Tony and Calum from BMR on Sunday. It was a good weekends racing for the team and we certainly received some great TV coverage and favourable comments from the presenters.”

“We will be up to Scotland next for Round Four of the championship at Knockhill Circuit. If ever a circuit was made for the light and agile Krämer GP2-890RR bike this is it - Bring it on!”

As always, a huge thank you to this years sponsors and supporters: Build Maintain Refurb, Plastic Parts Direct, Krämer Motorcycles GmbH, Motul Oils, PT Hire, GB Racing Protection, Technicolour, DP Brakes and Hel Performance.
