BSB British GP2 | R6 Brands Hatch

The halfway point in the GP2 Championship

The Krämer team arrived at Brands Hatch circuit knowing that it was going to be a tough weekend against the ever-improving ‘Next Generation’ Supersport bikes.

After challenging free practice and qualifying sessions for both riders, race one saw Jenner finishing first in class and 17th overall. Nixon unfortunately had to retire from the race early due to a mechanical problem.

Race two on Sunday saw a more positive result and despite the highly competitive line up, Jenner and Nixon both finished the race in respectable positions - Jenner in 15th and Nixon 27th overall, first and second in class.

Team owner Eddie Roberts comments; “It is always our objective to be at the front of the GP2 class which was once again achieved and brining us up to 12 wins out of 12 races. It is however also our intention to finish as near to the front of the Supersport class as possible. The rules for our class this year have made it ever more difficult for our young riders to achieve their goal."

"The GP2 class is limited to 132bhp which is as much as 15bhp down on the front Supersport bikes, the lightweight Krämer GP2-890RR is further handicapped as we must add 12 kilos to reach the minimum weight limit. At other circuits these handicaps are not as severe, tight twisty tracks such as Knockhill really suit the superior handling of the Krämer."

"All this said top 15 results overall were archived at Brands Hatch, alongside our GP2 podiums. It was also great to see Tony and Lauren Hart from our sponsor BMR, who were there to cheer us on!”

We are now at the halfway point in the GP2 Championship and current standings have Jenner leading with 297 points and Nixon in second with 201 points.

The team learnt a lot from Brands, which will be put into good use as they head off to round seven at the super fast Thruxton circuit in Hampshire.

As always, a huge thank you to this years sponsors and supporters: Build Maintain Refurb, Plastic Parts Direct, Krämer Motorcycles GmbH, Window Worx, Motul Oils, PT Hire, GB Racing Protection, Technicolour, RP Tuning, Sigma Clutches, DP Brakes and Hel Performance.
