BSB British GP2 | R4 Knockhill Circuit

Tricky conditions at Knockhill didn’t stop the Krämer team

The team arrived at Knockhill early to get set up, confident in achieving a positive result at the Scottish circuit. The weather was great during set-up, but sadly it was to go downhill as the weekend progressed.

A wet practice session saw Nixon 7th and Jenner 12th overall, which was a good result considering the weather conditions. After a wet start on the Friday, qualifying on Saturday was thankfully in drier conditions, resulting in Jenner sitting strong in 7th (only 0.3 off pole) and Nixon in 10th place overall on the grid - 1st and 2nd GP2’s in class.

Race one was delayed due to poor weather conditions, but thankfully turned out to be a dry race. After a race long battle with the top Supersport riders, Jenner finished in 5th place overall. Jenner was very pleased with the result and getting up to 3rd place at mid race distance and just pipping 2023 Supersport Champion Ben Currie to the finish line, with a best lap of only 0.2 of a second off the fastest race lap.

Nixon was not so fortunate in race one, suffering with arm pump he came home in 15th place - which in this highly competitive class is still an outstanding result. Both riders and bikes performed well and brought home the 1st and 2nd place trophies and GP2 Championship points.

Rain was back big time for race two on Sunday. Jenner, with his good race one lap time started from the middle of the second row on the grid, allowing him to get an outstanding start. This great start allowed Jenner to work his way up to 3rd place, and after another race long battle with the top Supersport riders finished in 5th, after being pipped at the line by Alistair Seeley.

Nixon unfortunately had issues with his helmet visor and had to retire from the race early.

Team owner Eddie Roberts comments; “Jenner had the best weekend of the season so far, with results that show both he and the Krämer GP2-890RR can run with the best riders in the country. Wet or dry Jenner was right there amongst the best of them, and even beating the defending Supersport champion in race one.

Nixon was not quite so fortunate this weekend, suffering with arm pump and visibility problems he was not able to get the results he is more than capable of.

The team now heads off to round five at the fast and flowing Snetterton Circuit in Norfolk, knowing that they are first and second in the GP2 class. However, both riders now know that they can run up front overall, and that is what they will be aiming for.

It was great to see how much TV coverage the Krämer bike and team got over the weekend. The start line interview with James Whitham and Jenner was seen by millions globally, on Eurosport.

Overall, this weekend both our riders and team achieved amazing results in very challenging conditions!”
